Sports massage is for everyone!

Writer: Lisa HowarthLisa Howarth

A lot of 'non-sports people' belive they don't need a sports massage simply because they don't do sport. This is wrong.

No matter whether you train every day or never, I can guarantee you have a sore back, sore knee, sore shoulder or possibly all three. A sports massage is designed to release tension so you can be pain free.

Yes, it is sometimes uncomfortable, I won't lie to you. But just how uncomfortable are you everyday? Is a little pressure on those sore muscles worth the pain free time after... in my opinion ABSOLUTELY!

You're in control of the massage, if it's too sore just say and I will release the pressure. Or if I find the very sore spot and you'd like me to apply more pressure then I will. The massage is only for your benefit so that's why it's important to communicate.

Personally, I take a holistic approach to massage, I want to fix what's causing you pain, which isn't always from the muscle that's sore. For example, tight glutes are usually the culprit for lower back pain. I also want it to be relaxing, for this I use a lot of broad stroke techniques across muscles to increase heat and blood flow.

So to sum up, whether or not you spend 60 hours a week working at a desk, on a building site or training in a gym YOU NEED REGULAR MASSAGES!
